Seaside Singers
On returning to Kent in 2012, i wondered where the provision was in Thanet for those with dementia and their loved ones.
In Cumbria I had learnt to lead very successful singing groups for people with dementia and their carers, with my colleague Ali Rigg.
We based our practice on research from the Sydney de Haan centre in Canterbury lead by Trish Vella Burrows.
It is now a well known fact that singing is so good for one's health in so many ways.I contacted Dr Vella Burrows and volunteered at her groups in
Herne Bay and Canterbury and together we set up and produced the Seaside Singers.
It still continues today lead by Charlie Hannah.
